Russell – Owner and Director
We’re not quite sure where the passion for bridal came from, but our fearless leader has it big time. Having earned his stripes working at the UK’s number one bridal title, You & Your Wedding , for nearly a decade, Russell opened Blackburn Bridal Couture in 2005 with the aim of breathing new life in to the London bridal scene. Appealing to stylish brides wanting quality and originality alongside a personal approach to finding The Dress, he is incredibly proud to have built up what is now one of the most successful independent bridal boutiques in the UK.
In 2015 Russell launched his own bridal collection, Blackburn Couture, which is one of our top selling lines and available exclusively in-store. He recently starred on E4’s ‘All Hail The Veil’ as a bridal stylist and expert, and has dressed many a celeb for both red carpet events and weddings.
Russell has a weakness for female music divas and will belt out a power ballad at any opportunity. Just give him the key of G and away he goes… whilst looking absolutely fabulous, of course.
Sama – Assistant Manager/Stylist
Don’t let that smile fool you. Behind the sunny exterior is a right old bossy cow, although she would call it ‘assertiveness’. We let her get away with it as she tends to know what she’s talking about, being one of the longest standing members of the team and an established wedding planner. A working actress before turning her hand to weddings, Sama spends much of her time chasing after her toddler, Frank, and watching trashy telly. She’s pretty good at writing too, so whether it’s a strongly worded email or a self-deprecating but witty team biog for the website, Sama’s your gal.
Natalie – Freelance PR
Natalie has quite the career history, having had her own bridal shop, worked in events, run an online clothing business… oh, and that time she was in a girl band and had a top 20 single in the charts. She works at BBC as freelance PR now, but we had to have her on the website as she’s an intrinsic part of the Blackburn Bridal family. A skilled classical vocalist, Natalie regularly performs at weddings and private functions; take note all you brides to be!
Carly – Stylist
Carly is the Posh Spice of Blackburn Bridal. She likes the finer things in life and doesn’t “do” public transport? (No really, she doesn’t do public transport). Partial to an interior style magazine (or five), Carly keeps the boutique looking super beautiful, and can pick out a mean wild card in bridal appointments. She also has a wardrobe we’re all very envious of and inevitably end up copying (Whitney). At home she’s a reluctant ‘soccer mom’ to two boys and runs an Instagram account for her Sharpei dog, Bear.
Hannah – Stylist
Hannah thinks the world is run by unicorns and fairies and is our child of the sixties… born in the eighties. Our boho beauty, Hannah comes from a fashion styling background and has her own range of bridal belts available in-store. She is currently ‘with child’ for a second time and growing rapidly, so please don’t judge her if she moves veeery slowly in your bridal appointment. Hannah lives the closest to the boutique and yet is always the last to arrive. Typical hippy.
Jane – Stylist
Our lovely Janey is a right old-timer, having been at Blackburn Bridal in various capacities for going on eight years. Another multi-skilled member of the team, she plays the trumpet, sings jazz and is a professional photographer. Jane loves her tea and biscuits which means her Secret Santa present is always sorted. Currently on maternity leave, Jane will be back in May and we canny wait.
Whitney – Stylist
Whitney loves weddings. A recent bride herself, she joined the team in 2016 as a Saturday stylist despite already having a full-time job as HR Manager for a large fashion retail group. An Essex girl with serious bowling skills, Whitney loves helping brides find their dream dress and finding out all about their wedding plans. Did we mention that she loves weddings?
