Alterations Process

Once you have purchased your dress the next step is the alterations process to ensure the perfect fit…

Once you have chosen your dress we will take your measurements. We will send this off to the designer who will use this information to make your dress to the closest size on their measurement chart. Around two months before your wedding date, your dress will be delivered to the boutique. At this point, your dress will need to be altered to fit you perfectly. You will normally need 2-3 appointments.

Please be aware alteration fees are not included in the price of your dress.

We pride ourselves on high quality and choose to only recommend two highly qualified and experienced seamstresses for alterations. You do not have to use these seamstresses, it is completely your choice but they know the style of our designers better than anyone else and have worked with hundreds of our brides.

On average alterations can take up to 10 hours whether small or large as your gown will be unpicked, deconstructed, adjusted and re-worked back to a beautiful finish.  Your seamstress will discuss what is needed and costs at your first appointment. For a guide visit Fran Rios alterations and costs

Specialist alterations can be longer, your seamstress will talk this through with you and any extra charges at your first appointment.

To make the most of your initial fitting and more importantly to ensure the alterations are accurate we ask that you bring the following along with you:

  • Wedding shoes

  • Wedding day underwear (bra, cups, bodysuits etc...)

Our seamstresses will make the necessary adjustments with these essentials, without them there could be further alterations required requiring additional appointments and charges.

Lastly, as the hour appointment is so important for your gown’s perfection, we respectfully ask you to be on time and if you are interested in viewing or trying accessories, please inform us prior as we will need to review the allocated time.
